Health & Safety Advisor

This is a one day per week role. As our Part Time Safety Advisor you will provide advisory, technical, and coordination support to our Health and Safety Committee, leadership team, Project Managers, supervisors, and field staff. You’ll help keep our Health and Safety Program organized, practical, current, and aligned with our work across office, field, construction, client, and Prime Contractor environments. This role is ideal for someone who understands safety, but also understands people. We’re looking for someone who can provide practical guidance, build trust, support follow through, and help make safety feel clear, useful, and embedded in day-to-day work.

What You’ll Do:

As a key support to our Health and Safety Committee and leadership team, you’ll help us maintain a proactive and practical safety program by:

  • Supporting the administration and maintenance of Select’s Health and Safety Program, documentation, and records
  • Attending Health and Safety Committee meetings as required and helping track key action items
  • Providing practical guidance on hazard identification, inspections, corrective actions, safe work practices, and safety documentation
  • Supporting incident, near miss, hazard, and corrective action follow-up
    Assisting with COR maintenance, audit readiness, Prime Contractor requirements, and safety program improvements
  • Supporting safety orientations, toolbox talks, weekly safety memos, and other safety communications
  • Helping reinforce a proactive safety culture where employees feel informed, supported, and encouraged to speak up
What You Bring:

You’re practical. Organized. Approachable. And you know how to make safety meaningful without making it complicated.

You also bring:

  • Working knowledge of Alberta occupational health and safety requirements
  • Experience supporting safety programs, committees, inspections, documentation, or incident follow-up
    Strong organization, communication, and follow-through skills
  • The ability to provide practical guidance and influence safe work practices without direct authority
    Experience with COR, audits, construction, engineering, surveying, or field services would be considered an asset
  • Relevant safety education or certifications, such as NCSO, CRST, CRSP, auditor training, or incident investigation training, would be considered an asset
