Select Engineering Consultants Ltd. (“Select,” “SEC,” “we,” or “us”) recognizes the importance of protecting the privacy of your information. This Privacy Policy governs the collection of your data received through this website or other online service (the “Site”) that links or refers to it.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide Directly

We collect information that you provide us directly, including when you contact us using a “Contact Us” form on the site, send us an e-mail, leave comments, or enter a search query. For example, if you send us e-mail, your email address and the contents of your message will be collected. This includes text characters and any audio, video, and graphic information formats included in the message.

Images uploaded to the Site should avoid including embedded location data (EXIF GPS) as the images can be download and any location data can be extracted.

Information We Collect Automatically

Our servers automatically log information about your use of and visits to the Site, including through the use of cookies and similar technologies.  For example, we may collect your Internet Protocol (IP) address, the type of web browser and operating system used to access the Site, the time and duration of your visits, and information about the content and webpages you view and the features you access on the Site.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

The Site — as well as certain third parties that provide content and other functionality on the Site — use a variety of technologies to learn more about how people use the Site and the Internet.

When you visit the site, Select automatically collects technical information, including the IP address used to connect your computer to the Internet, browser type and version, time zone setting, browser plug-in types and versions and operating system and platform. In addition, we receive and store certain types of usage information whenever you interact with our site, including what pages you visit, frequency of visits and activities you perform on our site. Select receives and records traffic data using third-party analytics including your IP address, cookies and the page you requested. This data helps Select diagnose problems with its server and analyze trends. We may also use any data we collect through the site to better understand and market to our customers or website visitors.

By accessing and using our website you agree to our use of cookies. If you’re unhappy with the use of cookies, they can be disabled by changing the settings on your browser. However, if you do disable cookies, certain parts of our site may be unavailable to you.

Information from Third Parties

We may receive additional information about you from other publically and commercially available sources, as permitted law.

We may combine all of the information we collect or receive about you and use or disclose it in the manner described in this Privacy Policy.

Use of Your Information

We use the information we collect and receive to provide and improve the Site and our other products, services, and offerings, as well as to provide you with information you request or respond to inquiries we receive from you or your company or organization.  We also may use such information to analyze how users use the Site and related analysis, research, reporting, and troubleshooting and as we believe is necessary or appropriate to protect, enforce, or defend legal rights, privacy, safety or property, whether our own or that of our employees or agents or others, and to comply with applicable law.

Sharing Your Information

To the extent consistent with applicable law, we may share your information in the following circumstances:

  • with affiliated and third-party service providers, such as companies that provide us technical support, data hosting, and other services;
  • with other parties when required by law or as necessary to provide or protect our services, products, and other offerings.  For example, we may need to disclose information with other parties to comply with the law or respond to legal process or a request for cooperation by a government entity or law enforcement; to prevent fraud or verify and enforce compliance with the policies and terms governing our Site; and to protect the rights, property, or safety of us, or any of our respective affiliates, business partners, customers or employees; and
  • when you or your company or organization consent to or request such sharing.

The information you provide may be transferred outside your country to another country that does not have similar data protection legislation and may provide a lower level of protection for your information.  By using any of the Services or providing us with your information you consent such transfers.

Links to Other Websites and Third Parties

The Site may contain links or references to third-party owned or operated websites or online services. Select is not responsible for the collection of personal information or the security or privacy of such information on any such third party sites or services.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Protection of Information

Select uses industry standard security measures to protect the information under our control, including firewalls and other security measures.  Although the inherent dangers of the Internet mean we cannot guarantee the protection of your information against loss, misuse, or alteration, Select takes steps to protect your personal information.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on the Site (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on the Site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Do Not Track Signal

Some web browsers may transmit “do-not-track” signals to the websites with which the user communicates.  We do not currently take action in response to those signals.  If an industry standard on responding to such signals is established and accepted, we may reassess how to respond to those signals.

Children’s Information

The Site is intended to be used by adults and corporate entities interested in Select.  They are not intended for children, and Select does not knowingly collect or store personal information about children under the age of 14.

Due to changes in technology, legal requirements, and our Site, we may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of changes by posting changes here, or by other appropriate means.  We suggest that you bookmark this page so that you may check periodically to see if any changes have been made.
