Chérot Neighbourhood

The Chérot neighbourhood is in northwest St. Albert north of Giroux Road (Old McKenney Avenue), south of Villeneuve Road, west of Ray Gibbon Drive and east of Carrot Creek.

This community is design for nature lovers with a focus on walkability, public green spaces. It will provide a high amount of outdoor recreation spaces and the future community amenities campus will facilitate and promote active living. The plan creates dedicated pedestrian linkages to neighbourhood amenities including the planned school site, stormwater management ponds, parks, and the community amenities campus. The walkways connect to adjacent neighbourhoods through to the City’s regional planned trail network that connects to the Red Willow trail system along Carrot Creek. Chérot will provide a full range of housing types and will introduce innovative housing forms to St. Albert. This neighbourhood will be a desirable choice for people to live in a complete community for many years to come.

The proposed residential components are predominantly low density residential with several medium to high density residential sites. The medium and high density sites are located near neighbourhood entrances for convenient access to major roadways and transit routes.

Two commercial sites have been located at the north entrance to Chérot next to the community amenity campus. These sites could provide for commercial retail and service opportunities that serve users of the community recreation amenities and neighbourhood residents.
